What to Know When You Arrive at CornerHouse for a Forensic Interview
Where do I go when I arrive?
After parking in the designated family spots families should follow the sidewalk to the front door (located closest to 10th Avenue) and ring the bell to communicate with staff. CornerHouse is a secure facility, so intercoms are used at both entrances to announce any and all visitors.
Families will be greeted by a CornerHouse staff member who will help sign everyone in and offer a brief overview about what will happen during the appointment.
Can I speak to the interviewer?
A CornerHouse interviewer may briefly speak with caregivers to learn more about the individual being interviewed.
What if my family needs an interpreter?
Professional language interpreters may also be present during the interview in cases where an individual has indicated a preference to communicate in a primary language other than English.
Who/how are others watching the interview?
The forensic interview is audio and video recorded; professionals involved in the investigation will be observing from another space via CC TV.
Can I watch the interview?
No, however during the interview, caregivers will have the option to meet with a CornerHouse Advocate to receive support and resources.
Can I leave right after the interview?
We ask that following the interview caregivers plan to meet with investigators to ask questions about next steps.
After the interview, individuals aged 11-17 may meet with CornerHouse staff briefly to check in about any possible trauma symptoms. If needed, caregivers will be notified of any safety concerns.
