Specialized therapy for
children, adolescents, and caregivers impacted by abuse and trauma

The CornerHouse Mental Health Team offers a range of therapy services including individual therapy, curriculum-based group therapy, and caregiver support. Each Mental Health professional is trained in evidence-supported modalities to help children, adolescents, and caregivers impacted by abuse and trauma to heal. Individual therapy services are offered in person and virtually to allow for great accessibility. Therapy services are available in both English and Spanish. Services are provided regardless of ability to pay.

Individual Therapy

CornerHouse provides individual therapy to children and adolescents ages 3-17 that is trauma-informed, client-centered, and culturally responsive, ensuring that the unique needs of the child and family are at the center of the services provided. Regardless of whether they have previously participated in other CornerHouse services, our therapy services are tailored to the specific needs of children and adolescents who have experienced or witnessed abuse and/or trauma.

CornerHouse offers:

  • Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

  • Child-Centered Play Therapy

  • Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP)

  • Non-Directive and Trauma-Informed Talk Therapy

  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

Support Groups

CornerHouse Support Groups are twelve-week programs held up to three times per year for adolescents, children, and their caregivers to work towards healing following an experience of abuse or trauma. Family Group is curriculum-based and offers opportunities for children (ages 5-12) and caregivers to learn educational material and process their individual experiences. Adolescent Girl Group is curriculum-based and offers opportunities for adolescent girls (ages 13-15) to learn educational material and process their individual experiences.

Each week, a different topic is addressed related to abuse and healing from trauma. In the family group, the information is provided to the children through directive play therapy: a combination of games, books, puppets, short films, and art activities. Caregivers experience culturally relevant support and information provided through a variety of activities. In the adolescent girl group, the services address the unique developmental needs of adolescents. Through group engagement, participants learn how to identify emotions, and how to feel and express emotions in healthy ways, how to assert boundaries, and process their own experiences of abuse.

Support Group can help:

  • Strengthen family relationships

  • Provide support to help adolescents, children and caregivers understand, integrate, and heal from their experience

  • Decrease isolation that those affected by abuse may experience

Insurance and payment:

Our accredited mental health clinic is contracted with most major insurance providers. Our team will work with you to determine payment options.
