Specialized therapy for children, adolescents, and caregivers impacted by abuse and trauma.

The CornerHouse Mental Health Team offers a range of therapy services including individual therapy and support group therapy. We provide specialized trauma-informed, culturally responsive therapy to children, adolescents, and caregivers impacted by abuse and trauma. Each Mental Health professional is trained in evidence-supported, trauma informed interventions to aid in coping with and healing from traumatic events. Individual therapy and support group services are available in both English and Spanish.

Meet children and adolescents where they are

Play is often a young child’s primary way to communicate their feelings and thoughts. Our child centered play therapy offices provide a comfortable, safe space for younger children to explore and heal. Our providers are also experienced in working with the unique developmental factors affecting adolescents, providing them with a non-judgmental, compassionate space to explore and talk about their experiences.

Provide support for caregivers

We understand that caregivers also need support to aid in their child’s healing process. Caregivers are engaged in therapy services in a variety of ways including collaborating with the intake, treatment goal planning, in the ongoing therapy process, and participating in support groups.

Financial considerations are never a barrier

We accept several types of insurance as well as have a sliding scale program. Services are available to all regardless of ability to pay.

Our Services

  • CornerHouse provides individual therapy to children and adolescents ages 3-17 that is trauma-informed, client-centered, and culturally responsive, ensuring that the unique needs of the child and family are at the center of the services provided. Regardless of whether they have previously participated in other CornerHouse services, our therapy services are tailored and available to children and adolescents who have experienced or witnessed abuse and/or trauma. Individual therapy services are offered in person and virtually to allow for great accessibility. Services are provided both in person and through telehealth.

  • CornerHouse Support Groups are curriculum based and offer opportunities for children and their caregivers to learn educational materials and process their individual experiences. CornerHouse Support Groups offer weekly topics to address abuse abuse and healing from trauma. Support groups are offered throughout the year. Our Family Support Group (FSG) is held in the early spring and late fall. Our Adolescent Support Group (ASG) is held in the summer.

The Family Support Group (FSG) curriculum provides education, support, and resources to the children through directive play: a combination of games, books, puppets, short films, and art activities. Caregivers experience culturally relevant support and information provided through a variety of activities. English Flyer, Spanish Flyer.

Adolescent Support Group (ASG) curriculum provides education, support, and resources while addressing the unique developmental needs of adolescents. Through group engagement, participants learn how to identify emotions, and how to feel and express emotions in healthy ways, how to assert boundaries, and process their own experiences of abuse. Caregivers experience culturally relevant support and information provided through a variety of activities.

All Services begin with a thorough and collaborative assessment process and treatment goal planning. Our therapists spend time getting to know you and what is bringing you in for services and create a plan together for healing.

Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT)

CCPT is a therapeutic approach that utilizes play as a natural medium for children to express their feelings, explore their experiences, and resolve emotional challenges in a safe and supportive environment.

Utilize evidence-based therapy interventions that are trauma-informed and childcentered. Interventions include:

  • CPP is an evidence-based relationship-focused treatment for young children (birth to age 5) and their caregivers who have experienced a traumatic event. It aims to heal families by strengthening the parent-child relationship by reducing symptoms of trauma and behavioral problems and improving the child's development.

  • TF-CBT is an evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents impacted by trauma and their caregivers. It is a components-based model which incorporates traumasensitive interventions with cognitive, behavioral, family, and humanistic principles and techniques.

  • ART is a type of therapy that combines principles from several traditional forms of psychotherapy to reduce the effect of trauma and other psychological stressors. Using techniques such as rapid eye movement and image rescripting, this approach works to recondition stressful memories by changing how they are stored in the brain to improve overall mental health.
