MultiSession Forensic Interview Training

There are occasions when the traditional model of a single, one-session forensic interview does not fit a particular individual’s needs. This may include individuals who:

  • are very young,

  • who require use of an interpreter,

  • who have intellectual disabilities or other special needs,

  • who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation.

In such situations, an alternative process of a multiple-session forensic interview may be beneficial for maximizing the individual’s ability or opportunity to share their experience.

CornerHouse’s MultiSession Forensic Interview Training teaches a process for conducting a single forensic interview over multiple sessions. This training is non-protocol specific, and the process can be applied to any forensic interview protocol. The training is targeted toward experienced forensic interviewers and multidisciplinary team members who have previously attended a basic forensic interview training course and who want to expand their skills for conducting forensic interviews that best meet the unique needs of these individuals.

Objectives:

  • Understand the ways in which a multiple-session forensic interview process can be helpful in meeting the unique needs of particular individuals.

  • Obtain a thorough, practical understanding of the components and implementation of the MultiSession Forensic Interview process.

  • Recognize how to apply best practices and maintain forensic integrity when conducting a multiple-session forensic interview.

  • Explore considerations for multidisciplinary teams regarding incorporation of a multiple-session forensic interview process into their current practice.

How is the training provided?

  • Two-day training conducted in Minneapolis, or at your site.

  • Interactive, experiential training utilizing discussions, lectures, videos, exercises, and interview simulation with peer review.

  • Learners will have an opportunity to practice new skills and techniques, receive feedback, and ask questions in a comfortable learning environment.
