Announcement: New CornerHouse CEO

Dear CornerHouse Community,

After an extensive and thoughtful search process, the CornerHouse Board of Directors is delighted to announce the appointment of its new CEO, Christy Shannon. Christy comes to CornerHouse with a wealth of experience in the victim services field and a proven track record of leadership in the nonprofit sector, most recently as Chief Financial Officer of Safe Nest, Nevada’s largest nonprofit agency providing comprehensive domestic and sexual violence services.

Christy’s history of supporting agencies through extensive program, operational, and funding growth to better meet the needs of survivors will translate effectively to CornerHouse’s future vision to expand and enhance services to the children, adolescents and vulnerable adults who have experienced abuse.

“Christy brings a passion for our mission and a deep commitment to making a positive impact on children, adolescents, and families impacted by abuse. Her strategic vision, innovative thinking, and dedication to CornerHouse's values stood out during the selection process. We are confident that Christy will lead CornerHouse with integrity, enthusiasm, and a fresh perspective”.

- Lisa Hauser, CornerHouse Board Chair.

The Board of Directors extends its heartfelt gratitude to Interim Executive Director, Cheryl Jensen, for her outstanding service and dedication to CornerHouse. Cheryl has played a crucial role in the organization’s growth and success in 2023 and has established a strong foundation for this leadership transition.

CornerHouse Board members and staff invite the community to join CornerHouse in welcoming Christy Shannon and wishes to thank the entire community for ongoing support, commitment, and belief in the transformative power of CornerHouse.

Founded in 1989, CornerHouse is a Minneapolis-based Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) providing response services, family support, and ongoing therapeutic support for children who have experienced abuse. As a recognized leader in the field for child-centered and trauma-informed practices, most notably the CornerHouse Forensic Interview ProtocolTM, CornerHouse ensures children who have experienced abuse or neglect are listened to, cared for and empowered to begin their journey to heal. CornerHouse is also committed to preventing child abuse by creating a movement of people who are willing to see the problem and help elevate the awareness of child abuse in our communities.

With Gratitude,

CornerHouse
