A History of CornerHouse 1995-2000

2/95

The 2nd Annual Sweethearts for Kids Event is held. The award goes to Ken Stensby.

6/95

Advanced Forensic Interview Training is offered for the first time.

8/95

The 4th Annual Twins Event is held.

9/95

Jonathon Elias, WCCO-TV, sponsored the first Celebrity Bench Press Competition Fundraising Event.

12/95

In 1995, 427 children are provided services by CornerHouse. During the year 771 professionals participate in the training program.

2/96

The 3rd Annual Sweethearts for Kids Event is held. The award goes to Jocelyn Tilsen.

6/96

The 5th Annual Twins Event is held.

7/96

The 2nd Annual Celebrity Bench Press Competition Fundraising Event is held at the Mall of America.

10/96

The training program is advertised on a national level. In the fall, four training sessions are provided at the sponsoring agency’s facility.

12/96

In 1996, 503 children are provided services at CornerHouse. During the year, 889 professionals participate in the training program.

5/97

Sharlene Shelton is hired as Executive Director.

5/97

A groundbreaking ceremony is held to highlight the beginning of the major building expansion and remodeling project.

6/97

The 6th Annual Twins Event is held.

7/97

The 3rd and final Celebrity Bench Press Competition Fundraising Event is held at the Mall of America.

11/97

The agency is renamed CornerHouse Interagency Child Abuse Evaluation and Training Center.

In 1997, 457 children are provided services at CornerHouse. During the year, 479 professionals receive training from CornerHouse.

4/97

Allen Garber is elected Chair of the Board of Directors.

1/98

An open house is held in the newly remodeled and expanded facility, which increased in size from 2,212 to 8,109 square feet.

5/98

CornerHouse begins a collaborative working relationship to provide professional training with the American Prosecutors Research Institute.

6/98

The 7th Annual Twins Event is held.

11/98

The first Southdale Shopping Center’s “Magical Evening of Giving” Fundraising Event is held.

12/98

Lori Larson and Amy Melchior receive the 1998 Sweetheart for Kids Award.

In 1999, 409 children receive services at CornerHouse. During 1998, 1,008 professionals participate in the training program.

Arlene Clapp receives the 1999 Sweetheart for Kids Award.

The first “Search for the Stars” Talent Competition Fundraising Event is held at the Mall of America in Macy’s Court.

Mary Tambornino is elected Chair of the Board of Directors.

The 8th Annual Twins Event is held.

CornerHouse recognizes 10 years of service at a community open house.

The 2nd Annual Southdale Shopping Center’s “Magical Evening of Giving” Fundraising Event is held.

In 1999, 454 children receive services at CornerHouse. During 1999, 1,056 professionals participate in the training program.

Joanie Clausen is awarded the 2000 Sweetheart for Kids Award.

7/00

The 9th Annual Twins Event is held.

10/00

The 2nd Annual “Search for the Stars” Talent Competition is held at the Mall of America.

11/00

The 3rd Annual Southdale Shopping Center’s “Magical Evening of Giving” Fundraising Event is held.

New medical equipment is obtained to improve the quality of medical services.
