7/86 |
County Attorney Tom Johnson and Assistant County Attorney Tom Frost visit the site of the nation’s first child advocacy center in Huntsville, Alabama. |
8/86 |
Representatives of the County Attorney’s office and Minneapolis Children’s Hospital meet for the first time to discuss the creation of a child advocacy center in Minneapolis. |
1/89 |
Tom Johnson is elected the first Chair of the Board of Directors. |
2/89 |
Mary Ellison is hired as the first Executive Director of the Interagency Child Abuse Evaluation Center. |
6/89 |
Services for Minneapolis children who reported sexual abuse are provided in an interim space at 915 East 25th Street. |
7/89 |
In the first six weeks CornerHouse is open, forensic interviews and medical examinations are provided to fifty-two children. |

A groundbreaking ceremony is held to recognize the beginning of construction of a new facility at 2502 Tenth Avenue South. |
9/89 |
The organization is renamed CornerHouse Interagency Child Abuse Evaluation Center. |
10/89 |
Staff moves to the new facility, constructed and donated by the Minnesota Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP). |
11/89 |
An open house is held for the community in the new facility. |
12/89 |
CornerHouse videotapes were used for the first time in two criminal cases in Hennepin County. |
12/89 |
In less than six months of operation, CornerHouse serves over 200 children. |
1/90 |
John Laux elected Chair of the Board of Directors. |
2/90 |
The first training services are provided for Child Protection Services and Minneapolis Police Department. |
7/90 |
CornerHouse receives the National Association of Counties Achievement Award. |
9/90 |
The CornerHouse service area is extended to all of Hennepin County. |
12/90 |
CornerHouse serves 411 children in 1990. |
2/91 |
CornerHouse provides its first training services outside of Hennepin County. |
12/91 |
During 1991, CornerHouse provides services to 520 children. |
9/92 |
The first Fundraising Event was held at a Twins Baseball Game. |
10/92 |
The Hennepin County Attorney's office formally adopts a policy that CornerHouse interviews are required for all cases involving child victims under ten. |
12/92 |
CornerHouse provides services for 471 children in 1992. CornerHouse staff provide training to 73 professionals during the year. |
2/93 |
Jocelyn Tilsen is hired as Executive Director. |
9/93 |
The 2nd Annual Twins Fundraising Event is held. |
12/93 |
In 1993, CornerHouse serves 488 children. During the year, 89 professionals receive training through CornerHouse. |
2/94 |
The first Sweethearts for Kids Event is held. Award goes to John Laux. WCCO-TV anchor Don Shelby serves as MC. |
2/94 |
The capital building expansion and remodeling funding campaign begins. |
2/94 |
Mace Goldfarb, M.D., is elected Chair of the Board of Directors. |
7/94 |
The 3rd Annual Twins Event is held. |
11/94 |
CornerHouse is recognized as a full member of the National Network of Child Advocacy Centers. |
12/94 |
In 1994, CornerHouse serves 490 children. During 1994, 275 professionals attend training sessions sponsored by CornerHouse. |
