20th Anniversary CornerHouse Gala
CornerHouse celebrated its 20th Anniversary at a Gala on September 19, 2009. The exciting event was held for the third year in the Golden Wings Museum at the Anoka County Airport in Blaine.
CornerHouse founders Tom Johnson and Mary Ellison received the Sweetheart for Kids Award. The Board of Directors presents this award annually to individuals for their vision, dedication and service to children. Tom Johnson was first Board Chair and Mary Ellison the first Executive Director when CornerHouse first opened its doors twenty years ago. In keeping with tradition, Dr. Jud Reaney and Dr. Linda Thompson, last year’s Sweetheart for Kids recipients, presented this year’s awards to Tom and Mary.

Guests were able to walk among the historic planes at the Golden Wings Museum. This American Treasure and “living history “ museum features 30 one-of-a-kind airplanes from the Golden Age of Airplanes (1920-30s). This special venue showcases a Ford Tri-motor flown by Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhardt.

The event also featured CornerHouse’s new DVD “Healing Young Lives” produced as part of the 20th Anniversary. Proceeds from the sponsors, ticket sales, silent auction and donations, went to supporting CornerHouse’s mission of providing children with a safe place to be heard.
Board member Suzanne Fedoruk Herrick led the Gala Committee through its months of preparation.

About The Golden Wings Museum: The Golden Wings Museum is an American treasure. The 65,000 square-foot hangar and “living history” museum features some 30 unique and one-of-a-kind airplanes from America’s Golden Age of Aviation (1920-30s). New to the collection is a 1927 Ford Tri-motor, clad in corrugated aluminum. The Golden Wings Museum house the private collection of Greg Herrick.
